The Grand Orchestra

The grand orchestra body shares many sonic similarities to the grand auditorium shape, offering versatile tones that are well-balanced and suitable for all styles of strumming and fingerstyle playing. The grand orchestra design provides a strong lower midrange and an improved bass response thanks to its deep shape. Also providing incredibly versatile dynamics, the Taylor guitar is able to produce deep, robust sounds. Maple wood is used for the body's back and sides, making the guitar bright and loud, while allowing each note to sing clearly when playing chords. The top of the body is crafted from solid sitka spruce, enhancing the natural maple tones whilst providing an incredibly broad dynamic range that yields crisp articulation, perfect for the fingerpicking player.

Redesigned Nuances

The redesigned Taylor 618e features design nuances that will change how it looks and feels. The use of protein glue optimizes the tonal transfer between key wood components and an ultra-thin, 3.5-mil gloss finish to minimize dampening. The back of the guitar features a beautiful voilin-hued appearance without adding extra thickness to the finish thanks to the new, hand-rubbed "Brown Sugar" stain on the back and sides.

Unique Bracing Pattern

The Advance performance bracing pattern features customised bracing profiles and placement for each body shape to optimise their inherent strengths. This bracing pattern uses side braces as well as the standard setup, adding rigidity and helping to maximise both top and back movement. The overall effect is an enhanced midrange, sustain, and tone that features plenty of warmth.

The Perfect Guitar Neck

For ultimate playability and peace of mind, the 618ce guitar features Taylor's unique NT neck design. The NT neck was designed to give players a straighter, more stable guitar neck, resistant to common problems such as changes in humidity. The neck sits in a custom fit pocket along with laser-cut spacers. There's a perfect neck angle for each Taylor guitar, and these precision spacers create it. Best of all, because there is no glue used in the NT neck design, maintenance and adjustments can be made by trained technicians in a matter of minutes.
