The Marshall Super Lead and Super Bass are acclaimed British amplifiers with a big, definitive sound. The Super Lead 1959 Amp Head was created in 1965, after The Who's guitarist Pete Townsend requested a 100 Watt Marshall amplifier. It was also notably used by Eric Clapton, Angus Young, Jimi Hendrix, Matt Bellamy and many more. The Super Bass was released as the bass partner to the Super Lead, and together they have been providing their distinctive, classic sound for over 50 years.
The SL Drive is one of Xotic's micro sized pedals, alongside the EP Booster and the SP Compressor. The small, and compact housing means that it can easily fit on even the busiest pedalboard; but don't think that its tiny size affects the sound. As the SL Drive has internal dip switches that allow you to change the sound to select between the characteristics of both the Super Lead and the Super Bass. The Super Bass has a full, thick bass-driven tone, with plenty of low-end grunt and a darker output, whereas the Super Lead has a distinctive tone with bright highs and plenty of gain.
'If you have a half-decent amp, you can start cranking it out just like a Marshall with this pedal.' - Chris Duarte
