Arturia presents the third generation of their MiniLab series. The MiniLab 3 MIDI controller is a useful tool for anyone looking to take control of their sounds. Offering simplicity without restricting creativity, anyone can easily operate the Minilab 3 and its diverse range of useful features.
The Minilab 3 features a 25-note velocity-sensitive slim keyboard that provides articulated expression, that suits any playing style. Eight RGB backlighted pressure and velocity-sensitive pads have two banks that you can switch between, for a total of 16 samples you can play, chop and switch up. You can map up the eight rotary encoders and four vertical sliders to any parameter of compatible hardware or software, enjoying an effortless workflow that drives your creativity.
The arpeggiator is accessed via holding the shift and the first pad, you can then adjust the arpeggiator to your preference with the rotary dials or main encoder. Control buttons on the top left of the MiniLab 3 allow you to browse the extensive utility and change presets such as hold and chord modes. The Oct- and Oct+ buttons allow you to quickly change between octaves and two capacitive strip sensors provide modulation and pitch bend. Information is shown on the built-in mini display and you can explore in depth with the clickable browsing knob, all with real-time feedback on adjustments.
The MiniLab 3 is connected and powered via USB-C, this means that it can be connected to any compatible device such as either apple or Microsoft computers and Android or iOS devices. Arturia and DAW programs automatically connect to the MiniLab 3 Custom-written DAW scripts allow the MiniLab 3 to co-ordinate with and control all major DAW’s without complicated setup, synergising your favourite digital tools with your new hardware. The integrated transport control allows you to record and playback without having to keep clicking in your DAW.
Use the MiniLab 3 to control your other instruments and equipment with the five-pin DIN output for MIDI; with this, you can connect and control vintage synthesizers and play music without using a DAW. The control input can be used for a pedal and can be set to sustain, expression or footswitch.
Built to last, the MiniLab 3 is made of 50 percent recycled plastic and is rugged enough to be taken anywhere. With a polymer composition, it can be transported easily in any bag due to its condensed size. Lack of space isn’t an issue when using the MiniLab as it measures just 35.5 cm in width, great for people with a limited area for their music equipment, or those who want to save desktop space for synths and other important hardware. The Arturia MiniLab 3 is an important accessory for any artist shaping their sounds.
