The SRM Stands for Sound Reinforcement Monitor

Over a decade ago, Greg Mackie and a dedicated team of engineers set out to create a portable loudspeaker that could deliver studio monitor sound quality. Unlike a relatively small, acoustically controlled studio where the sweet spot is well defined, live venues vary greatly, and most are far from acoustically balanced. Despite the challenges, after two years of extensive research and development, the first Sound Reinforcement Monitor was born a loudspeaker that truly lived up to its name. The SRM350v2 continues the SRM350 s tradition of studio monitor sound quality and trumps it to deliver sound that makes any venue seem like a well-tuned studio

Ultra-Wide Dispersion

Undoubtedly you've been to a show where the sound is all over the map - stand in front of the band, it sounds okay, but move a little to your left or right and all of a sudden you've got mud in your ears. When the SRM350v2 loudspeakers are on stage, no matter where you stand, you hear sound with impeccable stereo imaging, depth of field and definition - at full-on loudspeaker levels. This is due to the SRM350v2's wide dispersion pattern, which is achieved through its High Frequency waveguide.

Professional Grade Transducers

The SRM350v2 has sounds even better than the original, in part, because of it's premium transducers. The new 10" neodymium woofer has less mass and quicker response providing incredibly punchy response from such a small loudspeaker. Not to mention it is much lighter than a traditional ceramic magnet based transducer. Additionally, it's titanium compression driver provides sparkle and clarity beyond the original design keeping it's characteristic sound in-line with it's big brother, the SRM450v2. The acoustic gurus out at EAW spent months and months tweaking these custom designed transducers so that the SRM350v2 would deliver the best sound possible in a small format box.

Super low distortion thanks to Mackie's own Class-D, Fast Recovery Amplification With its combination of Class D topology and Fast Recovery circuitry, the SRM350v2 operates with incredible efficiency, and delivers much more power and clarity. With this "Class D Fast Recovery amplification," as we've lovingly (and creatively) dubbed the technology, the SRM350v2 handles maximum volume - and associated heat - with ease, so there's no unwanted noise, and no thermal problems. Built-in Protection Circuitry for Long Life

We know our Active loudspeakers are pushed hard - often to, or beyond, the limit. That's why we have reliable protection circuitry built in to every one. The SRM350v2 employs a built-in limiter for less distortion at peak levels. And thanks to the advanced technology of its power supply and Class-D amp topology, the SRM350v2 is greater than 90 percent efficient - more of the power from your outlet goes straight to the transducer, without the power supply and amp giving off loads of heat. Less heat means better performance, and longer life.

Versatile, Portable, Tough - And They Look Good, Too

When designing the SRM350v2, we considered every angle. From every angle is just how you can position it, too - pole-mount it from the bottom, fly it vertically or horizontally via its optional hanging bracket, or use it as a wedge monitor. With all this flexibility, it's the most versatile portable Active loudspeaker around. And now moving it into place is easier than ever. Weighing in at just 26 pounds - now that's light! - you?ll have more than enough strength left over to deliver an electrifying performance after loading in. While it keeps all the features and functionality of its predecessor, the Mackie 1202-VLZ3 offers even greater headroom versus the original. We could have stopped right then and there, but we re obsessed with perfection. So we redesigned the Mix Bus, tweaked the EQs, and created a mixer with a highly intuitive, musical feel.

VASTLY SUPERIOR XDR2 MIC PREAMPS

Our new XDR2 (Extended Dynamic Range) second-generation mic preamps are better than ever. These new pres offer incredibly low noise, with individual mic pre THD below 0.0007 , and overall mixer THD less than 0.0025 . With 60dB of available gain per channel, the 1202-VLZ3 can handle inputs ranging from a whisper to a scream, and can even handle hot line-level signals up to +22db, without any added coloration. You simply won t find preamps this good on any other mixer in this price range.

EQUALIZATION

We invested tremendous resources optimizing the center frequencies of our 3-band Active EQs. By selecting 80Hz, 2.5kHz and 12kHz, for the Lows, Mids and Highs, respectively, we created an even more musical EQ than on previous VLZs. With up to 15dB boost/cut capability per band, VLZ3 s Active EQ provides more tone-sculpting latitude than any other mixer in its class.

PROFESSIONAL FEATURES

The Mackie 1202-VLZ3 is packed with premium features on every mic channel 75Hz Low-Cut filters, two Aux Sends, inserts, phantom power, constant-loudness Pan controls and Pre Fader Solo. And since you can never have too many output options, we provided a Control Room/Phones source matrix, Master Aux section with EFX to Monitor, tape outputs, a high-volume headphone amplifier and balanced XLR and TRS outputs.

NEED EVEN MORE FLEXIBILITY

Greg Mackie's mind was working overtime when he originally came up with this instead of sending muted signals into the vacuum of space, why not do something useful with them? So, when you press the mute button on the 1202-VLZ3, the signal is indeed muted but it also appears at the ALT 3-4 output jacks and ALT 3-4 stereo bus. This is an ideal way to create additional Aux Sends and mixes for cry rooms, green rooms, or assistive listening, etc. And with a press of a button, the ALT 3-4 mix can be assigned to the Main output which means ALT 3-4 can act very much like a mixer within a mixer.

BUILT MACKIE TOUGH

All VLZ3 mixers are built tough-as-a-tank. Our legendary solid-steel chassis can take the kind of abuse that would turn our competitor's flimsy boxes into twisted chunks of debris. Instead of cheap, unsealed potentiometers, we use co-molded pots, which offer substantial strain and impact relief. By design, our control knobs ride just above the surface of the chassis, so if something falls onto the mixer, the impact is transferred from the knobs to the chassis not to the potentiometers or circuit board. Finally, we use thick, horizontally mounted fiberglass PC boards to eliminate the potential for damage and brace them with a shock-absorbing support structure. They ve survived earthquakes, hurricanes and typhoons, so Mackie mixers can certainly handle whatever you throw at them.
