Dual Power Amp For Balanced Headphones

The SPL Phonitor X is one of the most high-end headphone amps and preamps on the market. The extended frequency range, high-grade components and innovative technology make the Phonitor X stand out from the crowd. What sets the Phonitor X apart from its counterparts, is its dual power amplifier that allows you to connect balanced headphones. The integrated dual power amp drives balanced headphones which are twice the power of the standard 1/4-inch jack. This results in improved low-end response and increased transparency. The front-panel of the unit features a 4-pin XLR connector for balanced headphones. The standard and 4-pin headphone outputs can also be used simultaneously for added flexibility.

Optimised Phonitor Matrix

One of the most unique and innovative features on the Phonitor X is the optimise Phonitor Matrix. The streamlined technology allows you to simulate speaker-like listening environments by emulating the angles of the sound. Because the Phonitor X is designed primarily for audio playback, the Phonitor Matrix has been optimised especially for this unit. There are four selectable Speaker Angles in total, providing the means to bring speaker-like sound to any pair of headphones.

Remote Control & AMP CTL

The most convenient feature of the Phonitor X is the ability control the volume using any IR remote control. Phonitor X will automatically learn your remote, whether it's from your CD player, amplifier or other equipment. You simply have to assign the buttons to correspond with the Volume controls and the Phonitor X will effectively 'learn' them. When Phonitor X is operating as a preamp together with the SPL Performer, both units can be linked for simultaneous power on/off. This allows you to control the power on both units at the same time with a simple 3.5mm mono-jack cable.

Design & Construction

The sleek yet robust design makes it ideal for both live and studio settings. The large potentiometers provide precise control over everything from master volume to laterality, speaker angle, crossfeed and more. The front-panel of the unit features two separate, vintage-style VU meters. There is also switches included for Sources, Output mode and more. The front and lid are made from aluminium with the rest of the housing comprised of sheet metal for optimal durability and strength.
