The Elkhart 100SSU Curved Soprano Saxophone is a well-built instrument, at a really competitive price tag. Similar to other soprano saxophones by Elkhart, the 100SSU can play the full range from a low Bb to a high F#. The 100SSU curved soprano is made from yellow brass which provides a nice balance between the various playing parameters. This is why it is the most widely used and commonly played alloy in the world. Once the 100SSU has been constructed it is coated with a layer of gold lacquer to keep the instrument looking newer for longer. Unlike other saxophones in this price range, the 100SSU has features often only found on premium saxophones. Its underslung octave mechanism is considered to have a much quicker and responsive action compared to overslung mechanisms. The engraving found on the bell of the 100SSU was done by hand by the highly experienced craftspeople in the Elkhart factory for a more personal touch.
