The Luna Moonbird Bouzouki features a spruce top, bringing you a versatile sound that's incredibly responsive. Spruce is known for its broad dynamic range and versatility, allowing you to add your own individual playing style and still receive the desired tone in response. Paired with a maple body, the Moonbird Bouzouki produces a bright, defined, and clear sound with great sustain. Perfect for bluegrass and folk, you can take to the stage in true Luna style. Craving something different to add to your live setup? From traditional styles to more modern bluegrass, the Moonbird is an idyllic companion for the modern folk player.
Constructed from mahogany, the Moonbird's neck offers a quick and dynamic response with added warmth and resonance. Mahogany's warm, rich tone also complements maple's brighter, more defined sound beautifully. Additionally, the Moonbird's C-shaped neck profile offers comfort throughout each position up and down the neck. The C-profile also offers a secure grip and prevents the likeliness of a cramping hand throughout long practice sessions. Furthermore, the neck is topped with a black walnut fingerboard, offering a smooth playing experience whilst enhancing the guitar's overall tone with a warm, earthy character. Exclusive to Luna, the fingerboard is also sprinkled with their unique yet stunning pearl moon phase inlays.
The Luna Moonbird Bouzouki comes equipped with a piezo pickup, which is attached to the string retainer point on the floating bridge. The piezo's sound is created by the pickup itself, not by the induced voltage of a magnet. Once plugged into an amplifier, players can achieve a clear and harmonic tone. Ready to take to the stage? Or simply add a new and unique sound to your live setup? You can now take to live performance with Luna's modern twist on a classic instrument.
The bouzouki originated in ancient Greece and has been around for centuries. Beginning its life in ancient Greek folk music, the lute-like instrument had something of a renaissance in the 1950s. Manolis Chiotis, a Greek virtuoso bouzouki soloist, began using a four-course bouzouki (meaning four sets of two strings) which could be tuned similarly to a guitar.
This development proved a success, as it made it much easier for those who could play the guitar to learn how to play the bouzouki. Thanks to this, the instrument became immensely popular within the Irish bluegrass genre that developed in the late '50s and early '60s. Luna's Moonbird maintains the bouzouki's classic, distinctive sound, is extremely playable, and more suitable for live performance than ever. A relic brought into the modern day.
