About ATV
Pioneering new fields with audio and video. ATV's very history is formed of innovation and standard setting. The company's founder, Ikutaro Kakehashi, developed MIDI - the now global standard for electronic musical instruments and video equipment. ATV's philosophy is to create instruments with high added value for professional users, rather than falling into the trap of commodification. Part of their mission to send new products into the world that contribute to the development of human culture.
aDrums
"Pursuing the true value of an instrument that cannot be expressed by specs or functions". This was ATV's mission when setting out to create the aDrums series. And with it, the company has developed a bold and unique instrument that has to be seen and heard in the flesh to be truly appreciated. With 6-ply, piano black, premium birch wood drum shells, the aDrums Artist Standard Drum Kit provides the striking visuals of an acoustic kit with the convenience of world-leading electronics. Forget the home studio or practice room, the aDrums are made for the bright lights of the stage.
Full size, piano black lacquer drum shells
Be honest. Have you ever seen an electronic drum kit with visuals like these? The aDrums series allows you to connect with an electronic instrument like never before - heightening your performance because of the way in which the feel and appearance of the kit match the sounds it produces.
Consistent sounds and acoustic dynamics
Previous electronic kits have suffered from hotspots that caused abrasive sounds to be produced when a head's centre was struck. The modules would then respond by limiting the dynamic range to lessen these effects. With multiple sensors used for the drums and cymbals, the aDrums series provides consistent sensitivity for the striking surfaces. You can fully express your range of hard and soft strikes just like you would on an acoustic kit.
A hi-hat pedal that can keep up
Most electronic hi-hat designs use contact-style sensors to detect pedal motion - limiting their capabilities. Not the aDrums. This hi-hat uses a non-contact sensor that allows high-precision sensing with no delay even when the pedal is opened and closed rapidly - delivering even greater accuracy.
Electronic cymbals unchained
The aDrums' cymbals can be played and choked anywhere around their full circumference, eliminating the need for rotation stoppers that restrict their natural motion. The innovative design replicates other important details as well, such as how the entire cymbal flexes and wobbles when its edge is struck. With subtle cymbal idiosyncrasies, you can't get any closer to the real thing.
The heart of your groove
For rhythmic support, it's essential that your kick drum combines stability with ultra responsive triggering. The aDrums design achieves both with its unique buffer - dampening as it senses each strike. The 18" shell and its large spars also have an important part to play. Even with fast and hard strikes using a double pedal, you're always guaranteed perfect sensing and stability in your performance.
