A winning combination. When designing the Session Studio Select snare, Pearl pulled out all the stops. Its 6-ply construction, using Pearl's EvenPly manufacturing method, combines four outer plies of birch with two inner layers of mahogany, creating a bold, thick low-end and a powerful attack. Its shallower thickness allows the shell to vibrate more freely, emphasising and projecting that chunky bass response. Traditional wood, with a modern design.

The SuperHoop II's triple-flanged design allows the Remo drumhead to vibrate as freely as possible, while also providing a great stick surface for rimshots and cross-sticks. But Pearl chose the thicker, 2.3mm variety which subtly dampens ringy overtones from the head to focus in on the pure shell tone beneath.
Likewise, the CL bridge lugs reduce physical contact with the shell itself, minimising any restriction to its movement and maximising its beefy, full-bodied sound. The classic SR-017 snare strainer is simplicity itself, providing a smooth, no-nonsense action and world class control over your snare wire sensitivity.
