The shell's 6.5'' depth responds well to high tunings, emitting a sharp attack when struck that will cut through the densest or arrangements. The Premier XPK Exclusive 14'' x 6.5'' Birch Snare Drum is equally comfortable on-the-stage as it is in the rehearsal room and the recording studio. Birch shells are easy to identify due to their bright, articulate sound. Packed full of ''weight'' and ''punch'', they are significantly ''fatter'' and offer superior projection compared to maple shells.
Although bright, birch shells ensure a smooth well-balanced tone, providing adequate low-end. The sound of the snare is enhanced by the inclusion of low-mass XPK lugs and 1.5mm triple-flanged hoops. These features work in unison to increase the shell's sustain, making them an ideal choice for both live performances and studio recording, particularly for Pop, Rock and heavier music styles.
