Simon Philips is an English jazz, pop and rock drummer, playing in bands such as Toto and playing sessions for musicians such as Gary Moore, Nik Kershaw, MikeOldfield, Judas Priest, Tears for Fears and The who. Philips started playing professionally aged 12, playing in his father’s band Dixieland. Sessioning on musicals and picking up general session work as Philips got older, he began to work with the likes of Jeff Beck, Peter Gabriel and Frank Zappa. Philips influences are the likes of Buddy Rich, Tony Williams and Bernard Purdie to name a few.
