Studio and Squeeze. Two modes of compression modes you didn’t even realise you were missing. Flick the switch to ‘Studio’ and the volume spikes caused by any uneven pick velocity on your strings will be levelled out. However, if you choose ‘Squeeze’ you’ll have near-endless sustain. Strymon have modelled this mode after vintage compressors, meaning it gives more tonal expression which, in turn, makes it particularly supreme alongside single-coil pickups. So whatever your genre, you can sculpt the compression to your needs.
Treble, Mid, and Flat. That’s what’s on offer with the Compadre’s boost. And you can switch between clean or dirty clipping stages, meaning you get a whole load of tricks for your money here. So what can it do? Well, tightening your bottom end is easy with the ‘Treble’ setting, give your mid-range all the beef you could wish for with ‘Mid’, and finally, if you want to boost your entire range to the max, then choose ‘Flat’. You’ll be able to explore a tonal landscape from crystal clear intonation to saturated bite.
Analogue or digital. There are positives to both. And the Compadre incorporates this in a bid to have the two working together in harmony. Although the effects are analogue with the compressor being VCA based and the boost powered by a Class A JFET input circuit, this pedal's MIDI compatibility is digital. It works by transforming MIDI signals to analogue, letting you recall your favourite presets. So you don’t have to mess around trying to recreate the perfect tone you found last night. Be ready to take the next leap into quality.
