A master of old school thrash. Frank Bello is an institution when it comes to thrash metal, having been the bassist of thrash pioneers Anthrax for almost 40 years. He actually started off as their guitar tech, but was swiftly drafted into the band after the departure of Dan Liker in 1984. With such experience behind him, it surely comes as no surprise that Bello’s signature bass is a cut above the rest, and is truly up to his own exacting standards.
Searing power. Frank Bello’s signature EMG P/J pickups give this bass that classic aesthetic, mixed in with modern tone. The noise-free performance you’ll enjoy from active circuitry means you can really go for it with your basslines – no holds barred. The J pickup in the bridge delivers crisp, hard-hitting punch with exceptional clarity, whilst the middle P pickup exudes a fuzzier, sludgier tone for when you really want to bring the dirt.
Master the neck. Made from maple and boasting a satin finish, it shines with great playability and exceptional smoothness. The smooth surface allows your hand to access the entire fretboard with ease, and the maple wood adds snap and bite to this bass's tone for a superbly dynamic resonance. Sitting atop the neck is a maple fretboard, which offers you the ability to make smooth fret transitions. And it has a decent level of sustain for letting those notes sing and ring. These features will get you playing smoothly and with precision for the best sonic results.
Ultra-robust and ready for the stage. Frank Bello’s signature Pro-Mod So-Cal contains a wealth of super sturdy hardware. Charvel open gear tuners keep the strings firmly in place, enhancing tuning stability. A Charvel HiMass bridge ensures impeccable intonation and also helps keep your strings in tune. With this bass in your hands, you’ll be unstoppable.
