Key Features
Product Ref: 251193
Guthrie Govan’s signature guitar features a caramelised basswood San Dimas body with a gorgeous flame maple top and a specially contoured heel for easy access to the upper frets. The bolt-on 2-piece neck is made from flamed maple with a "caramelised" heat and drying treatment that makes it sound and feel much older. Graphite reinforcement rods ensure the neck stays strong and helps prevent warping. The neck also features a hand-rubbed urethane gel on the back of the neck and a convenient truss rod adjustment wheel. Most unusually for a San Dimas model, the 12"-16" compound-radius flame maple fingerboard spans two octaves, with the same caramelised treatment as the neck. The fingerboard also features 24 jumbo stainless steel frets, special maple dot inlays with ebony borders, and Luminlay side-dots that emit light for the darkest of stages.
Three specially wound Charvel custom MF pickups are featured on the signature guitar, arranged in a versatile HSH configuration with five-way switching for the expansive tonal openness and dynamic sensitivity that Govan demands. A 2-way mini toggle switch can engage single-coil simulation in bridge and neck humbucker positions, offering a three single-coil setup to offer the ultimate versatility. Two dome control knobs provide adjustments to the volume and tone of the guitar, while the Luminley numbers allow you to see your settings in dark environments.
Other premium features include a U.S.-made recessed Charvel locking tremolo bridge to create smooth pitch shifting and dive bombs, and Sperzel locking tuners that provide incredible string stability and sustain. A bone nut offers excellent resonance and sustain, keeping the tone balanced and ensuring the guitar stays in tune for longer.

Govan began to play guitar at the age of three and initially learnt by ear, listening to a lot of 1950’s rock’n’roll music before moving onto later eras. It wasn’t long before Govan started creating his own music, and in 1993 he won Guitarist magazine’s “Guitarist of the Year” competition with his instrumental piece Wonderful Slippery Thing.
