The Duo-Sonic’s elegant body is crafted from solid alder, providing an incredibly sturdy construction to survive the ruthlessly gigging lifestyle. The tonewood produces a resonant and balanced tone with plenty of clarity and body. Fender have used alder as their tonewood of choice for electric guitars since the 1950's, as the balanced response and slight upper middle definition makes it perfect for rock and blues playing.
As many guitarists know, a comfortable neck profile is important, and the Duo Sonic features the popular C-Shaped profile. This type of neck profile leaves a small pocket of space between the palm of the hand and the neck of the guitar, allowing more versatility along the maple fingerboard. The neck is also finished with satin polyurethane, creating an incredibly comfortable feel to create a fast and easy playing experience.
This unique guitar features a pair of duo-sonic single-coil pickups located in the bridge and neck positions. These versatile single-coils deliver a bright, jangly tone, and can reach the heavy chord tones of punk and hard rock when pushed. The pickups are designed with a vintage-spec to deliver extra clarity, and an incredible mid and upper harmonic range which cuts through the mix. Achieving the perfect tone is easy with its 3-position toggle switch, and volume and tone controls.
The Duo-Sonic guitar has become a classic choice for players in the underground music scene since its launch in 1956, making appearances in hundreds of club gigs worldwide. Although the Duo-Sonic has been dropped and relaunched on many occasions, it remains as one of the best guitars aimed at aspiring musicians. This unique guitar has become a classic choice for performing musicians worldwide, and has been used by notable musicians such as Jimi Hendrix, Damon Albarn (Blur), Joe Walsh, David Byrne (Talking Heads), Rory Gallagher, and many others.
