The Spitfire was a British single-seater fighter plane from around the time of the Second World War. It gained notoriety for its iconic design and capabilities. The Schecter Spitfire guitar is much like its namesake; it brings its own distinct design with incredibly capable functionality.
This guitar features a vintage-inspired aesthetic and tonality with its unique design touches such as a Bigsby tremolo and UltraTron pickups. These features are combined with a strikingly modern neck specification, giving you the perfect hybrid of old and new.
The classic combination of Filter'tron pickups and a Bigsby tremolo is a familiar sight on vintage guitars. Schecter's own UltraTron pickups give the Spitfire a classic vintage tonality; the pickups have the warm humbucking tone of a PAF pickup and the brightness and clarity of a single coil, providing a signature sound that can't be created in any other way.
The Spitfire guitar features the UltraTron pickups wired with a 3-way switch and push/pull tone control for added versatility with multiple pickups switching options. Not only do these pickups sound great, they also provide a classic aesthetic with the familiar vintage design.
The Schecter Spitfire features a true Bigsby tremolo that can provide a smooth and subtle vibrato effect on single notes and chords. It is mounted to a tune-o-matic bridge for enhanced intonation setup and tuning stability. The Spitfire's machineheads are also vintage style, produced by Grover for reliable and stable operation.
The Spitfire also features a split-design scratch plate and a familiar top-mounted jack socket. The fingerboard has block inlays and the headstock has a more angular and classic design. All of these features come together to give the Schecter Spitfire a vintage-inspired aesthetic alongside a classic tonality and playing experience.
The Spitfire's neck is crafted with a thoroughly modern specification ensuring you'll have none of the drawbacks of vintage guitars. The Spitfire's neck has a thin 'C' profile for a comfortable feel in the left hand. The fingerboard has a modern 14'' radius that is very wide and provides easy fingering alongside the ability to set up a low string action. The Spitfire has 22 frets which are extra jumbo for a superior playing feel; ideal for lead guitar techniques such as string bends and vibrato.
The Spitfire matches quality hardware and thoughtful specifications to a resonant and bright sounding alder body. The neck is constructed from a classic combination of rosewood and maple for a smooth feel with added brightness. The bolt-on design gives its own tonal range and suits the pickups perfectly, giving you a wide tonal platform to explore.
