The Music Man James Valentine signature guitar is a unique instrument crafted for the guitar-laden sound of Maroon 5 - with James Valentine providing the versatile 6-string tones that have catapulted the band into worldwide fame. The Sterling Valentine gives players more affordable access to the same versatile sounds, smooth playability and professional stability of the Music Man signature guitar.

Swamp Ash Body

A swamp ash body, sourced from Mississippi, gives the Sterling Valentine a bright tone with excellent resonance and sustain. The guitar's double cutaway shape provides effortless access to the top frets while the sleek contours provide amazing comfort for long playing sessions on stage and in the studio.  

Smooth Playing Roasted Maple Neck

A roasted maple neck and fingerboard provide an incredibly smooth playing feel, along with enhanced resonance, sustain and stability that comes from the roasting treatment. Not only does this process enhance the guitar's tonal properties, it also gives a stunning design touch with the classy look of a vintage guitar.

S/H Pickup Configuration with Boost

A bridge-position single-coil and neck-position humbucker provide a great balance of tones that is ideal for the pop, rock, blues, and funk tones of Maroon 5. With a 3-way switch, you can access biting bridge tones, mellow neck sounds, and the scooped, bright combined-coil sound to cover many genres of music. The bridge-position single coil is mounted in a humbucker sized housing for a balanced aesthetic and is angled to give additional treble to the top-strings and warmth to the bass. When you're ready for a solo, the push-push volume control enables an active 12dB boost to let your tone surge forward in the mix and give your amp increased saturation and sustain.

Stable Hardware

A Music Man specified hard tail tremolo gives exceptional stability and resonance. The 6 vintage-style bent-steel saddles provide full adjustability over string action and intonation. The bridge is complemented by locking tuners for guaranteed tuning stability, making this guitar the ideal tool for professional performance, both on the stage and in the studio.

About James Valentine

James Valentine joined American pop/rock band Maroon 5 in 2002 and provided the lead guitar duties on their critically-acclaimed debut album, Songs About Jane. In 2004 the album went platinum and cemented the band's worldwide popularity. Since then, Maroon 5 have continually evolved their sound and continued to dominate the charts. James Valentine brings a wide range of influences to his playing, including pop, rock, blues, jazz, and funk. He has collaborated with his friend John Mayer on the 2006 Continuum album, as well as on Jenny Lewis' 2006 solo album, Rabbit Fur Coat.
