Steve Lukather can transition between any genre with ease, and his signature Music Man Luke guitar was designed to convey any sound with effortless playability. The Sterling by Music Man Luke is a recreation of the Music Man Luke III, designed to offer a great-value, professional platform to discerning players.
The Luke's body features an array of smooth contours for a wonderfully comfortable and balanced playing feel, whether stood up or sat down. The deep horns and low-profile neck joint are sculpted to enable unhindered access to the top frets for high-range soloing. Crafted from basswood, the Luke delivers a versatile range of tones and lightweight playing feel.
The Luke's roasted maple neck is crafted with a "V"-shaped profile to sit comfortably in the left hand, providing the balance between thick-neck sustain and thin-neck playability. The roasting process helps to remove impurities and enhances the wood's strength, stability and sustain. It also creates a smooth surface, giving a 'played in' feel. The Luke's fingerboard has a flat 12'' fingerboard radius and 22 narrow frets for great balance across the strings, easy string bends, and excellent intonation.
To create a versatile range of tones, the Luke is loaded with dual Sterling by Music Man designed humbuckers and a 5-way switch. This gives you access to both powerful humbucker tones and nuanced combined-coil tones, letting you create a sound for any genre of music. The volume control also features a push-push switch, enabling a 12dB active boost to push your amp into increased saturation - perfect for solos with a leap in volume and sustain.
The Sterling by Music Man designed tremolo features a two-point design with vintage bent-steel saddles. The tremolo is designed for a smooth action with full adjustment over each string's action and intonation. The tremolo is complemented by a set of locking tuners for guaranteed tuning stability and quick string changes.
