The Electro Harmonix Pico Deep Freeze Sound Retainer / Sustainer is a meeting point between the original Freeze and Superego pedals. This pedal can freeze a moment in sound, acting as a sustain pedal for holding chords and notes, becoming the perfect backing for your playing or a platform to manipulate your tone into unique sounds that are impossible with a regular guitar.
In addition to the original Freeze's capabilities, the Deep Freeze introduces layering, adjustable attack/decay speeds, glissando, dedicated volume controls, and three modes: Latch, Moment, and Auto. Despite its compact size, this powerful pedal punches well above its weight, offering enhanced versatility.

The Deep Freeze offers three distinct modes of operation for instant sound freezing. In Latch mode, sound is frozen with each press of the footswitch until the effect is bypassed. Moment mode freezes sound only while the footswitch is held down. Auto mode automatically captures sound whenever it detects a signal above its threshold, providing effortless freezes. These modes accommodate any playing style while delivering unparalleled sound freezing capabilities.
Further controls on the Deep Freeze let you tailor the operation of the effect. Separate DRY and EFFECT volume controls allow you to blend signals from subtle backing to 100 effect experimentation. The GLISS adjusts the morph time between freeze sounds, creating otherworldly soundscapes.
The SPEED/LAYER knob adjusts either the attack/decay time of the effect in Moment and Auto modes, or the amount of layering possible in Latch mode, making playing impossible chords possible. With features like these, this compact Pico chassis pedal is a powerful addition to your pedalboard.
