Key Features
The Epiphone Firebird is a faithful redesign of a Gibson classic that offers 60s style and sound to a new generation of guitar players. Warm tonality with unbeatable sustain is assured with the Epiphone Firebird thanks to the bespoke ProBucker FB720 pickups which recapture the tones offered by the model to which it pays homage to.
A traditional 9-ply mahogany/walnut, the neck-through-body design achieves ultimate resonance across the body and a SlimTaper, rolled neck with Indian laurel fretboard ensures comfortable play and movement. Era-appropriate wiring and CTS pots round off the design to make it as 'true to source' as possible. And the glorious vintage sunburst finish means you will look as good as you sound, on stage or in the studio.

After the success other competitor companies had with solid body designs in the 1950s and 60s, Gibson soon came back with a few models of their own, one being the Gibson Firebird. It featured Gibsons first neck-through-body design. What that kind of design brings you is warm, rich tones, full neck and body resonance and next-level sustain, as there is no interruption between the neck and the body.
Now Epiphone gifts you the opportunity to achieve the same levels of sustain and recognisable tone in an affordable package that doesn't come with the difficulties of owning vintage instruments. 9-ply mahogany and walnut stacking across the whole neck and body mean that you're given stability in build but also access to the higher frets has never been easier thanks to there being no heel to limit your reach. So whether you're playing full chord rhythm parts or blistering solos, the Epiphone Firebird has something to offer you.
When playing a vintage instrument, something which shines through is the sound, which in most cases is unmatchable. However, Epiphone have changed this. Not only did they work tirelessly to get the visual design historically accurate, but they also worked meticulously on the pickup design to offer you something which is so accurate that even vintage purists were fooled into thinking it was the real thing.
Based on the sound of the P.A.F. pickups found in the original models, Epiphone has included their ProBucker humbuckers, which are capable of delivering warm vintage tones that remain versatile enough for the modern guitar innovator. You can recapture the soaring output and searing tones synonymous with the Firebird with crisp highs and thick lows attainable instantly.
When playing the guitar you want something that is comfortable to play and won't leave you feeling fatigued after long sessions in the studio or at the end of the night when you're set is just about wrapped up. Well, Epiphone has designed the Firebird with comfort as a must. Firstly, the neck profile is C-Shaped and being fairly shallow and more oval-shaped, it allows for a wider reach that will suit the majority of players, meaning you can reach the low and high regions of the neck with ease negating any strain on your hands or fingers.
Also, the Epiphone Firebird features a rolled neck meaning it will feel a lot more ”played in” so you will be comfortable right from the get-go; a must for beginners and seasoned pros alike. Then finally, an Indian Laurelwood fingerboard provides stability and fast action so you can move around the neck effortlessly. Not too dissimilar to rosewood, laurel will often have far more exaggerated graining that not only looks the part but is far more sustainable, meaning a benefit for the planet.
