Key Features
The Epiphone Thunderbird Vintage Pro Bass is a complete and accurate reproduction of the original bass from the 1960s. Taking inspiration from the classic car tail fins of the 1950s, the mahogany body wings feature elegant contours which offer comfort and style in abundance. Thanks to the excellent selection of tone woods used to craft this guitar, you can expect a texturally rich sound and robust design.
A neck-through construction offers smoot playability on the higher frets, while the pau ferro fretboard provides a warm tone with a natural feel. The pair of ProBucker #760 bass humbuckers will deliver a classic, powerful bass tone that will slice through the mix like a bullet through a balloon. All these great features come at a price more reasonable than that of its Gibson cousin, making the Thunderbird Vintage Pro perfect for beginners, established players and anyone wanting to harness that classic tone and aesthetic.

The Thunderbird Vintage Pro is equipped with a pair of ProBucker bass pickups, which will help you tap into that vintage 1960s tone with ease. These pickups are crafted using the same process as the ProBucker P-90 PROs, and feature 18 nickel silver covers which juxtapose the all-black body and create a fantastic chrome reflective aesthetic.
Containing Elektrisola Magnet wire, Alcino IV sand cast magnets, and braided coaxial lead wire – these German manufactured pickups are engineered to bring a consistently powerful and clear sound. Wax potted to further eliminate any undesirable microphonics, these pickups are truly the cutting edge of modern guitar technology, and will have you jamming on right through the night.
Featuring a 1960s TB-Bass Tun-O-Matic bridge, which is an extremely popular fixed bridge type due to its stability, consistent reliability and ability to hold your strings in tune for longer. On top of this, it holds a low action which will help you establish a comfortable playing position whilst enabling an impressive amount of sustain, for those longer, held notes.
Manufactured from mahogany, the Epiphone Thunderbird Vintage Pro offers industry standard craftmanship and the perfect resonance. This tonewood brings a wonderfully rich and diverse tonal palette to the guitar, which works with the pickups to create a unique voice which can be tailored to your preferences.
It’s elegant contours and cutaway allow for fluid hand flexibility and easy access to the full fingerboard, for a more complete performance. As well as offering a comfortable and stylish mahogany body, a rounded bass profile neck is also featured. This mahogany neck features an adjustable truss rod and with its neck-through construction, players can achieve smooth playability on the higher frets – as well as enhanced sustain and resonance.
Originally drafted by car designer Ray Dietrich in the 1960s, who based the design on the classic 1950s car tail fins, the body shape of the Thunderbird provides the ultimate comfort as well as a renowned style icon.
