Key Features
The Epiphone Viola Bass in Vintage Sunburst is a distinctive and unique bass in appearance and sound, reminiscent of the 60s British invasion. With a body crafted from maple and a laminated maple top, you’ll be able to access bright highs and tight lows. The neck is also constructed from maple, enhancing the tone with plenty of bite and twang; paired with a pau ferro fingerboard that brings out a softer side in the sound.
On the board, you can find a pair of NYT/NYR pickups, these will guarantee a clear and focused tone that accentuates the natural voice of the maple construction wood. Each pickup has its own volume control, and there is also a tone control knob that sits on the pearloid control plate. The Viola bass is complete with a scroll tailpiece covered tuners and a vintage sunburst finish to create that retro aesthetic.

The Epiphone Viola Bass is powered by a pair of NTY/NYR pickups located at the neck and bridge. These pickups can achieve a variety of warm, clear and bright tones with an excellent focus for vintage performance. Accentuating and enhancing the bass’ natural projection, the pickups on this guitar make it an ideal choice for performing bassists. The controls of the Viola bass include a volume knob for each pickup and a master tone control so you can tailor the sound to find your perfect voice. Finished in a classic gold, the control knobs are sat on a labelled pearloid plate – further adding to the gorgeous vintage appearance.
With a maple neck and body, the Viola bass delivers plenty of tight tonal characteristics, as well as providing a high-quality manufacturing that will feel great in your hands. Using maple as a body tonewood provides excellent levels of sustain and holds a strong upper midrange. Combined with a maple neck, playing will be a breeze as you’ll be able to glide across the pau ferro fretboard easily.
The scale length on of the neck is a slightly shorter 30.5” on this bass, making it very easy to manipulate and perfect for players transitioning from guitar over to bass. Also, the pau ferro bridge holds a low action and which firmly secures the strings, meaning you’ll be able to stay in tune for longer, and find the right note at the right time… every time
