The Gibson Hummingbird Special carries the unmistakable voice of the legendary Hummingbird but in a more comfortable and accessible design. With a slightly thinner concert-depth body, it delivers a tighter bass response while retaining the warmth and balance that made the original famous. The solid Sitka spruce top and solid mahogany back and sides produce rich overtones and a strong midrange presence, making it a versatile choice for strummers and fingerstyle players alike. Perfect for both studio recordings and live performances, this guitar cuts through the mix with clarity and depth.
Gibson’s reputation for high-quality acoustic guitars is built on decades of craftsmanship, and the Hummingbird Special is no exception. Handcrafted in Bozeman, Montana, by Gibson’s skilled luthiers, this model follows the same meticulous construction methods as its high-end counterparts. A compound dovetail neck-to-body joint, affixed with hot hide glue, ensures stability and resonance for years to come. The nitrocellulose satin finish allows the wood to breathe and age naturally, enhancing its tonal qualities over time while giving the guitar a sleek, understated look.
The Hummingbird Special is designed to excel in both acoustic and amplified settings. Equipped with an L.R. Baggs Element Bronze under-saddle pickup, this guitar delivers a natural, dynamic plugged-in tone with excellent feedback resistance. The soundhole-mounted volume control makes it easy to adjust your levels without affecting the guitar’s classic aesthetic. Ideal for solo performances or playing in a full band mix, the onboard electronics ensure a warm, organic sound that stays true to the guitar’s acoustic character.
Every detail of the Hummingbird Special is built for reliability and precision. The traditional belly-up rosewood bridge enhances sustain and resonance, while the TUSQ saddle, nut, and bridge pins contribute to consistent tone and intonation. Grover Rotomatic tuners provide rock-solid tuning stability, keeping your guitar in tune through long performances and extended playing sessions. The iconic Hummingbird pickguard features a simplified version of the classic artwork, adding a touch of vintage Gibson style. With a premium softshell case included, this guitar is ready to go wherever the music takes you.
