The RGR652AHB’s body is crafted from incredibly lightweight ash wood, offering excellent comfort with the ability to play all night long without shoulder strain. The ash tonewood provides a sweet, airy twang, with plenty of resonance for singing chords and powerful punching notes. Its firm lows, pleasing highs, and slightly scooped midrange suits a range of playing styles, but favours the harsh strikes of metal players.
It’s neck is crafted from maple and walnut, creating an incredibly bright, smooth tone with and excellent sustain and stability. Plying multiple woods together helps strengthen the neck more than single wood necks, offering more stability and prevent warping and bending from extensive performances. Although maple and walnut are a naturally smooth wood, the RGR652AHB feature’s Ibanez’s super wizard high-performance profile which is designed for shredders. This design is optimised for lead guitarists, as its thin nature helps players perform swift and nimble runs with ease.
The 2018 RG Series Ibanez is equipped with a bound rosewood fingerboard, which has been designed with a smooth, natural finish for a comfortable playing experience. The select rosewood tonewood provides the guitar with a very responsive bright, snappy attack, along with a smooth sustain and an open midrange. It’s bound edges allow for a smooth play and fluid hand flexibility across the whole neck.
Players can achieve a classic metal tone with the two DiMarzio Fusion Edge pickups, which were designed in a collaboration between Ibanez and DiMarzio. Located on the neck and bridge positions, these pickups produce a variety of overdriven textures, creating powerfully distinctive tones perfect for metal styles. Use the volume, tone, and 5-way pickup selector to dial in the perfect sound for any situation.
The Edge double locking tremolo system developed and manufactured by Gotoh, a highly regarded and respected company in the world of guitar parts. Originally introduced in 1986, discontinued in 2003, and re-introduced in 2010, the Edge is acclaimed by many guitarists as the finest tremolo system available on the market. It's based on the original Floyd Rose tremolo design, but with a variety of improvements. These include replaceable knife edges, a less bulky saddle, increased mass to improve sustain, locking studs, a spring retainer on the trem block, and a pop-in tremolo arm.
