Key Features
The Ibanez TOD10NL Tim Henson Signature Electro Nylon Left Handed lets you access the nylon string tones Polyphia use in songs like 'Playing God'. Tim Henson has emerged in recent years as one of the most innovative guitarists around; now Ibanez have developed Henson's new signature acoustic to deliver all the classical tones heard in their more recent releases. After Tim started experimenting with an old Ibanez SC500N, he approached Ibanez to see whether an updated nylon string acoustic would be possible... the result, as seen and heard on Polphia's latest singles, is the new signature TOD10N!
With a Modified FR hollow body shape, the cutaway on this provides easy access to all 22 frets. This is an acoustic that's been meticulously designed to play like an electric- Tim wanted every Polyphia song to be playable on this acoustic. The Fishman Sonciore pickup then provides a clear, articulate response from the nylon strings so every nuance of your playing is captured. Finally, the distinctive 'Tree of Death' inlay that runs the length of the fretboard provides a striking look to round off Ibanez's latest signature.

Ever since the video released, the question on everyone's lips was: what is the Playing God guitar? The TOD10N is the guitar featured on Playing God, and as seen in the video. These were prototypes but now the actual model is here, and what's more, it's very affordable. Polyphia collaborated with Steve Vai on the later single 'Ego Death', and the influence Vai has had on Henson is obvious when you see the stunning 'Tree of Death' inlay, that has been very closely modelled on the JEM's 'Tree of Life'. Set on a walnut fretboard, this is as silky smooth as acoustic necks come, giving you the power to shred on the nylon strings, as you would on an electric.
With its thinline cutaway body, Ibanez have clearly gone to great lengths to optimize playability. However, this isn't at the expense of tone. A solid sitka spruce top on sapele back and sides is a classic choice for acoustic guitars as this combination balances superior resonance with a warm, punchy midrange. These tonal properties match very naturally with the frequency response of nylon strings, showing the tonewoods have been selected to enhance and refine the overall sound. So unplugged, it offers rich, shimmering harmonics but when plugged in, the Fishman Sonicore pickup immaculately amplifies the playing, while the AEQ210TF preamp renders the outputted tone to retain all the dynamics and intricacies; so it sounds just as good in either scenario.
To round this innovative signature off, the level of control you're provided with gives you the power to properly sculpt your classical tone. The integrated tuner allows you to quickly ensure you're always in tune, while the handy 'Phase' button puts even more power in your hands, tonally. Set your highs and lows with dedicated 'Treble' and 'Bass' knobs, before dictating your overall level with 'Volume'. This finishes off an instrument that has had a significant attention to detail paid to ensure it sounds as nicely as it plays.
