If you are looking for a playable, expressive bass that can produce a range of dynamic sounds, look no further than the Music Man StingRay Short Scale. When creating this bass, Music Man took their classic, single humbucker design and updated it with modern enhancements. The first thing they did was upgrade the pickup to a neodymium humbucker. With these incredibly powerful magnets, you get an immense amount of volume with a clear defined low end. This new design has a super wide dynamic range allowing you to explore an extensive selection of classic and modern tones.
To make the most of that impressive pickup, Music Man has fitted the StingRay Short Scale with the ability to switch pickup configurations at the drop of a hat. Using the surface-mounted, chrome-plated, rotary knob, you can instantly flick between three separate tonal options, and fine tune your choice with the powerful, two-band EQ.
Series humbucker mode provides a beefy, mid-forward sound that loves drives and distortions, while the parallel humbucker option adds a smoothness and top-end shimmer that's perfect for slaps and pops. Or go all the way and split the humbucker into a true single-coil pickup, all with an optional gain boost, available via the push-pull volume pot.
The neck dreams are made of. Not only does the StingRay Short Scale have an unbeatable sound, it also has a beautifully comfortable neck. With a hand rubbed, oil wax finish, your hand will side effortlessly to any of the 22 stainless steel frets. This allows for super fast playing with ultimate precision. An unbelievable playing feel that cannot be replicated.
When re-imagining the StingRay bass, Music Man brought playability to the forefront. You get an ergonomic 5-bolt neck join, allowing greater access to the upper frets, perfect for solos or complex riffs. Combine all this with the super light-weight ash body, and you get an instrument you can play all day in total comfort.
