How do you upgrade a musical icon? The Martin D-35 David Gilmour Custom Signature Edition attempts the mammoth task of not just replicating, but improving the guitar that gave life to: Wish You Were Here, Goodbye Blue Sky, and Is There Anybody Out There? Martin and Gilmour together devised the specs and the plan on how to achieve this. To begin, the choice to use sinker mahogany for the warmth it imparts on your tone, along with its striking visual qualities and lustrous grain, exacerbated by the vintage gloss finish. The top needs to match the sonic qualities of your other tonewood; compatibility is important.

The Adirondack spruce Vintage Tone System top imbues an old-world sound, perfect for capturing the ethereal sounds of Pink Floyd, or perhaps David's newer acoustic-orientated material. Regardless, whatever you play will sound incredible; you'd be hard-pressed to make this guitar sound anything other than vibrant and resonant. Despite owning and playing a multitude of acoustics throughout his career, the D-35 was constantly referred to as David's favourite.
