The Authentic Hendrix Touring Circuit
The Authentic Hendrix Touring Circuit is a newly-documented circuit that heavily inspired the design of the PRS HDRX 20 "Hendrix" Circuit Head. This circuit was purportedly used by Jimi Hendrix himself at Woodstock and was studied by Paul Reed Smith and PRS Amp Designer Doug Sewell in 2018. The resulting design captures the flexibility, power, and balance of Hendrix's late-60s British-inspired tone in a lower wattage package. The circuit is designed to push the high-end so it is clear but not overly harsh, allowing the player to achieve aggressive tones that can be backed off for smooth, sweet sounds.
Complete Control Over Your Sound
The PRS HDRX 20 "Hendrix" Circuit Head offers players complete control over their sound with a range of versatile controls. The amp features a 3-band TMB tone stack, allowing players to adjust the bass, middle, and treble frequencies to achieve their perfect tone. The 2-way bright switch can be turned off for a warmer tone or on to add extra sparkle and clarity to your sound. The high-mid gain switch adds even more tonal flexibility, allowing players to choose between a warmer, mellow tone or a brighter and more aggressive tone.
In addition to these controls, the amp also features presence controls, which allow you to adjust the overall brightness and clarity of your sound. The internally bridged channels with individual treble and bass volume controls eliminate the need for a jumper cable and make it easy for players to dial in their distortion level and tone. The addition of a Master Volume control also makes it more user-friendly for players who do not want to add a volume attenuator to their setup. With all of these controls at your fingertips, you'll be able to achieve your ideal sound with ease.
Power and Convenience in a Smaller Format
The PRS HDRX 20 "Hendrix" Circuit Head is designed to provide players with a classic Hendrix-inspired tone in a smaller, more affordable package than its larger siblings, the HDRX 50 and 100. With a nominal output of 20 watts, this amp is perfect for smaller gigs, rehearsals, and studio sessions where high volume isn't necessary. The 5881 power tubes offer rich and articulate tones that break up beautifully in this lower wattage amp.
At just 17.25” x 9” x 9” and weighing only 27.6 lbs, the PRS HDRX 20 is also much more portable and convenient than its larger counterparts. Its sleek black Tolex covering and trim panel give it a professional look, while the absence of a jumper cable makes it much easier to use for the average player. With a Master Volume control added for the first time in an HDRX amp, players can easily adjust the power amp section without having to add a volume attenuator to their setup, making it even more user-friendly.
