Key Features
The Fender Custom Shop 62 Stratocaster Closet Classic is built to replicate one of the ultra-rare finds that vintage enthusiasts love - a cared for, rarely played, and genuine instrument! Its finish has been carefully tinged with signs of aging from its decades in storage, imbuing tonnes of character to this top-tier Custom Shop creation.
Its stellar vintage looks are complemented by some of the best components you'll find on a Fender. Its plain grain maple neck is carved in a custom '60s C-shape for a correct feel, while its premium AAA-grade rosewood fretboard is cut into a 9.5" radius for a more modern, solo-friendly playability. Tonally, Fender's Fat '60s hand-wound pickups marry with 10% taper split pots for sounds that range from crystal-clear and bright to rich, syrupy twangs. Complete with a top-quality hardcase and certificate of authenticity, this Time Machine Strat is the real deal.

One of the standout features of the Fender Custom Shop 62 Stratocaster is its Closet Classic finish. This is a finish meticulously designed to reflect a guitar that has been carefully preserved, perhaps even forgotten, in a case for most of its life. It carries no obvious signs of playing wear; instead, we observe subtle indications of the passage of time.
The finish has lost its original sheen, gently fading into a rich, matured tone. The plastic parts display a slight discoloration, and the metal hardware exhibits minor oxidation, adding an authentic touch of vintage charm. The body and headstock bear minor surface scratches, each one narrating a silent tale of the years gone by. The Closet Classic finish, thus, is not just a visual feature but a testament to a guitar that has aged gracefully over time.
Equipped with a custom-carved '60s style oval "C" shape neck, the '62 Closet Classic Strat feels exactly like a guitar from the period. Finished with a slightly faded nitro lacquer, it plays with fluidity and smoothness for super easy-transitions around the scales. On top sits a AAA-graded rosewood fretboard that shows off a gorgeous and exotic grain. What's more, it's shaped into a modern 9.5" radius for enhanced lead playability over the more vintage 7.25".
The 1962 Closet Classic Stratocaster packs a trio of hand-wound Fat '60s single coil pickups that will give you access to a wide array of sounds. Whether you're looking for tight rhythm tones or clear and percussive lead lines, they'll cover it all. The neck pickup is warm and round, while the middle pickup, being reverse-wound and reverse-polarity, offers hum-cancelling capabilities whilst blending a perfect balance of warmth and twang.
Lastly, the bridge pickup delivers that quintessential Stratocaster chime with a nice added punch. The Fender Custom Shop Fat '60s Strat pickups are wrapped in period-correct cloth wire and housed within a fibre bobbin, embracing the traditional construction methods of the 60s.
