There's method in the madness. The multi-scale fretboard is a step above the rest – it redefines playability and intonation for extended range instruments. With slanted, or 'fanned', fret guitars, the nut, bridge and pickups are slanted too, giving the lower strings a longer scale length than the upper register, which ensures correct string tension and unbeatable sustain. The multi-scale frets themselves correct for this difference, so that every fret still corresponds to exactly one semitone.
Naturally fitting to the slant of your wrist to ensure maximum comfort when playing, this also adds extra definition to the tone of the low strings, whilst making the treble strings brighter and clearer.
