Constructed from sapele, the 214ce's neck produces a consistent and balanced sound. It also adds warmth with a little extra treble to the overall sound. In addition, thanks to Taylor's neck joint, the piece of sapele sits stable and secure. Taylor's neck joint also prevents the neck from having a weaker point, resulting in an extremely strong connection between the neck and body. The neck also has a satin finish, which offers a smooth playing experience with plenty of grip and ability to move around with ease. Furthermore, the neck is topped with an ebony fingerboard which adds superb sustain with a bright attack to the guitar's overall sound.
One of Taylor's most versatile shapes. A signature body type that offers an idyllic all-purpose guitar. The grand auditorium body produces a full low-end, a focused, present mid-range, and sparkles on the treble notes. Its unique and individual voice projects an impressive amount of balance across the tonal spectrum, producing a clear, well-defined tone. The guitar's overall presence also fits beautifully well into a live mix, perfect for composing, as well as stage and studio work. Furthermore, the 214ce's body size falls between bold, brash dreadnought shapes and grand concert sized guitars, resulting in a comfortable sizing for both male and female players. Its Venetian cutaway also allows you to perform more technical skills in more challenging positions with incredible amounts of ease.
This special design features an innovative behind-the-saddle construction, which picks-up the Taylor's natural dynamic properties and projects them beautifully. The Expression System 2 features three pickup sensors, the location of these sensors enable more acoustic dynamics to be captured. This results in an exceptional amplified tone and a superior response to each nuance of your individual style. The Expression System 2 combined with Taylor's 'professional audio' preamp allows the player to plug-in to an amp, PA system, or directly into recording software. Faithfully capturing and projecting the 214ce's stunning, and natural tonal properties, the ES2 electronics offer a break-through design that needs to be heard. Furthermore, you can accurately shape your amplified tone via three soft-touch rotary controls - perfect for live, studio, and rehearsal settings. You're also able to adjust the bass, treble, and volume, perfect for experimenting with your amplified tone to find a sound that suits your individual taste in tone. These discreet controls are also easy to use and by rotating the controls back and forth, you will feel a small bump that indicates the middle position of the control, meaning the control is turned off.
For added strength, the 214ce is equipped with a forward shifted bracing pattern. This upgraded pattern allows the tonewoods to vibrate naturally, offering incredible depth and complexity. The 'x' in the bracing pattern is moved closer to the soundhole, enabling more of the guitar top to vibrate freely. Forward shifted bracing provides the 214ce with maximum tonal quality and projection, enhancing the tone, and offering added resonance and sustain.
