The Wampler Moxie Overdrive Pedal is a homage to one the most popular stompboxes ever created. Even better, Brian Wampler has taken the legendary circuit even further, gifting you the same outrageous driven tones, but with extra dynamic-shifting switches. First among those is a voice switch - activate this and your bass and trebles receive a mighty boost, whilst simultaneously cutting the mids to reveal more natural, brawny sounding overdrive.
Backing that up is a FAT switch. Flick this on to introduce a significant amount of gain to the signal for those extra gnarly tones - and all the while it'll maintain a clear and vibrant output. Flanked by a set of super simple dials, it couldn't be easier to shape the sonics to your exact taste. And all these monster harmonics are crammed into an extra slim case, so it'll easily fit onto any pedalboard. Built to mimic the churning sounds of an iconic stompbox, the Wampler grants you the same dynamic control and broad range of tones that'll make your amp scream. Powered by the classic 4558 chip, the Moxie can voice everything from bright volume boosts and gritty Texas style blues to searing hot lead sections. Boasting a touch sensitive response, it'll pick up on all the nuances in your picking style, allowing you to get the best out of your pedals and amp.
Shake up the sounds with switches
Wampler want you to rock - which is why they've made it super easy to shape your sound on the Moxie. A trio of dials sets the volume, gain and tone levels, and two additional switches allow for more tone transformation. On the dial side you've got plenty of flexibility: Use it as a clean boost by minimising the gain and tone or set a high-octane frothy overdrive by cranking those two settings.
As for the switches:
- Voice: Classic overdrives often have a strong midrange bump at the cost of treble and bass, so this voice switch reverses the trend. It'll crank the bass and trebles, but scoop the mids, leaving you with a brawny, natural overdrive that has depth and top-end shimmer
- FAT: Adds in a significant amount of gain to pump up the crunch factor and thicken the sound. Add in for more attitude! It achieves this through added MOSFET clipping to alter the drive compression.
