This model's body has been crafted into a concert shape, which offers a comfortable playing experience due to its compact size. This shape is larger than a parlour guitar, but smaller than a dreadnought, which means it offers a wide tonal frequency with excellent sonic balance and response. With its smaller size, the Yamaha FS-TA is the perfect choice for smaller framed players, as well beginners wanting a performance ready instrument for gaining skills and learning new chords. It also produces a beautifully articulate tone that fingerpicking you will certainly adore.
The FS-TA features a solid spruce top, which offers a versatile sound, perfectly suited to a wide range of playing styles and techniques. It yields a crisp and articulate tone, as well as producing a broad dynamic range. Spruce also resonates well whilst remaining strong, and provides a focused, clear sound of deep lows, warm midi-range, and bright sparkling highs.
Its solid top has been coupled with mahogany back and sides, which generate a rich, full, distinct warmth with plenty of resonance, while also offering a meaty mid-range, producing punchy, woody tones with plenty of depth and complexity to please most playing styles.
Constructed from nato, this model's neck produces similar tonal characteristics to mahogany, offering added warmth and resonance. It also responds greatly to numerous techniques, enabling players to experiment with more alternative playing styles and truly appreciate the sound produced. The neck has been topped with a rosewood fingerboard, which adds a sonically pleasing warmth to the guitar's overall sound. Alongside this, its rosewood fingerboard provides a smooth and energetic playing experience.
Yamaha's System 70 TransAcoustic preamp not only provides the ability to plug the guitar into an amplifier but can also amplify the guitar itself. With an actuator installed on the inside of the back panel, the piezo pickup transmits the vibrations from the strings to the actuator, and then to the body of the guitar and the surrounding air. This generates an authentic reverb and chorus sound inside the guitar, amplifying it's sound.
Its preamp comes with three controls that are designed into the body to minimise the amount of holes in the guitars body, reducing the loss of the acoustic sound. A chorus knob and reverb knob provides adjustments to the amount of chorus or reverb the actuator produces, with the reverb knob offering a choice between room and hall. The third switch turns the actuator on or off, and if the guitar is plugged into an amp, then it controls the line out's volume.
