Key Features

The Gen R-8 is a fully analogue touch synthesizer from the Dubreq, the company who produced the legendary stylophone back in the late ‘60s. This takes the idea of the original and bolsters it with a huge array of new sound design tools and a much larger form factor. Across the front panel you will find, Dual VCO’s with Saw, Square, PWM on Osc 1 and a master tune on Osc 2. The sub oscillators offer up room shaking bass and the variable control filter features Low pass, high pass, and band pass.
It all adds up to a powerful synthesizer that provides a very gritty sound perfect for hard hitting industrial techno, or even to add flavour to wide cinematic soundscapes.
The Gen R-8 features 19 CV/Gate patch points which allow you to take your sound design to a higher level. This allows for a much deeper dive into the world of modular and semi-modular synthesis but can also act as a great introduction into the world of patching. The 16 patch points allow you to add movement and new levels of control to the Gen R-8’s sound creation capabilities.
The Gen R-8 also features a 16 step sequencer which also features 8 banks, so you can easily switch between them on the fly. This adds a new performative edge to this very expressive synthesizer.
Just like the original Stylophone, the Gen R-8 takes its design cues from the retro futurism that Dubreq dreamt up in the ‘60s. This adds a stylistic character not found in a lot of todays more modern looking synthesizers. It looks great and at no cost to its rigidity, the Gen R-8 also features a tough steel enclosure to prevent damage. It’s the whole package.
