Complete sound control
The Cric’s 24 x 32 pin matrix is at the heart of its versatility, letting you reconfigure the synthesiser’s layout and routing on the fly. With this powerful feature, you can direct any signal to any point in the synthesiser, offering complete control over your patching options. This matrix setup enables Cric to transform from a mono-synth to a paraphonic synthesiser, a drum machine, or even a noise box - all without having to repatch cables. The result is a flexible instrument that encourages experimentation and lets you find new sounds effortlessly.
Dynamic modulation
The Cric’s four cyclical function generators provide a wealth of modulation possibilities, acting as envelopes, LFOs, or even additional oscillators. This flexibility allows you to shape your sounds with precision, adding motion and complexity to your patches. Each generator offers various envelope configurations, including Attack-Decay (AD) and Attack-Sustain-Decay (ASD) modes, cycle mode, and slope and pulse sources. This makes Cric an ideal choice for those who enjoy pushing the boundaries of conventional sound design.
High-performance oscillators
At the core of Cric’s sound is its three SSI2131-based analog VCOs, which offer stable pitch tracking and FM modulation capabilities. These oscillators can generate a broad range of tones, from warm analogue basses to bright leads. With a white noise generator also included, you have even more options for adding texture and variation to your sound. The oscillators are configurable in a recombination setup, letting you shape and blend their outputs for richer harmonic content. This gives you the freedom to dial in everything from classic subtractive synth tones to experimental, evolving textures that break out of traditional synthesis moulds.
Comprehensive sound shaping
The Cric’s filter section is based on the SSI2164 chip, offering an 18dB/octave state-variable analogue VCF. With the addition of wave-folding, the filter goes beyond simple tone shaping to provide full-on sound transformation capabilities. You can use it to add subtle nuances to your sound or completely reshape it into something entirely new. This filter section is highly responsive, giving you the power to create everything from resonant sweeps to gritty, distorted tones.
