Enjoy that natural piano touch. The Kawai KDP120 has many features to authentically recreate the feel of an acoustic grand. With 88 weighted keys, using the esteemed Responsive Hammer Compact II keyboard action, you'll get an accurate resistance as you press down on your keys. This is perfect for when you're playing in different locations, as you'll be prepared for the feel of any piano. You'll also learn advanced piano techniques with the three pedals, Sustain, Soft, and Sostenuto, with half-pedal support on the Sustain.
Kawai have worked to reproduce the extra acoustic effects too. With damper resonance, when you're using the Sustain pedal, you'll create the rich, surrounding effect of the strings of other notes vibrating in sympathy with the one you're playing. Get extra authenticity with a key-off effect. This advanced feature provides the sound of bass hammers returning to their strings after you have quickly released a note, just like you'd get on a grand piano. Then, with the option of hammer delay, you have the chance to adapt the effect of your instrument to your preference. If you choose, you can recreate the perceived delay between you pressing the keys when you're playing pianissimo, and the hammer striking the keys.
The KDP120 digital will give you that luxurious sound. You have this as you get to play with the exquisite sound the the Shigeru Kawai SK-EX concert grand piano. This famous instrument is crafted by artisans with extensive experience and is often the piano chosen by professionals to perform at renowned events like the Chopin international piano competition. Kawai's patented sound technology, Harmonic Imaging™, uses an advanced selection of techniques to create a realistic recreation of this 9-foot concert grand.
As you play a digital, you'll also get to experience a variety of other high quality sounds. The Kawai KDP120 piano features a selection of voices, including a mellow grand, modern piano, vibraphone, and a string ensemble. You can select the voice to suit your style or mood. Whatever your piano voice, with 192 note polyphony, you know your sound will be ringing out with a full body and enveloping sound. Enhance your sound also by selecting a different reverb depending on the situation. You can switch between the acoustics of a lounge, concert hall or cathedral amongst others.
Make use of the helpful additions you only get with digital pianos. A metronome is a crucial musical tool, and here you have one built in to help you with your timing. You'll also get support with your learning thanks to the lesson function, which features songs from reputable musical education companies like Alfred and Burgmüller. Get inspired with the 15 included demo songs too, and once you have worked on something of your own that you're proud of, record it easily with the 3 song recorder.
Create your own distinct sound. With the dual mode you can layer different musical voices over one another to make an interesting, rich texture. Build an atmosphere by combining piano and strings together. Then, duets are made simple with the four hands mode. When using this, your piano can be divided into two so it's like playing a duet with two pianos. If you're just having a private practice session and don't want to disturb others, the KDP120 makes it simple with the Low Volume Balance feature. This means you can play at low levels without compromising on sound quality as with Low Volume Balance the characteristics are intelligently adjusted for the ideal expression.
Kawai understand that modern technology can greatly support your music. With a USB MIDI connector, you have the option to connect to a computer so your piano can be used as a MIDI device.
