The elegant design of a grand piano is perfectly recreated from the curved baby grand cabinet all the way down to the finest details. Its lid can be opened to various levels to adjust the projection, like with a real grand, and the keys have a smooth cover to keep dust out of them. Minimalist touch buttons provide unobtrusive controls to the GP-6’s digital features and the backlighting can even be turned off to make them completely invisible.

Ultra-realistic feel

An instrument of this calibre requires the most authentic touch possible. Each key is made of a hybrid wood and plastic material with an ivory feel surface. These feel great and offer natural resilience for many years of playing. Roland’s Piano Reality Premium keybed provides further realism under the fingers. Its progressive hammer action replicates the different hammer weights in an acoustic piano - the lower keys feel heavier while the higher keys have a lighter touch. The escapement mechanism replicates the “notch” sensation and ensures the keys spring back quickly when they are released. Advanced acceleration sensing technology further captures every tiny nuance of your playing style. The weighted pedals emulate the mechanisms inside an acoustic piano’s pedals. Not only do they feel natural, but they also support traditional pedalling techniques such as half damping.

Each sound-producing part of an acoustic instrument is modelled and simulated to provide a rich and complex set of sounds that will allow you to perform any piece of music you want. The GP-6 has unlimited polyphony with its piano tones. As a result, every resonance can ring out no matter how many notes have been played or are sustained.

This advanced sound modelling is complimented by an equally advanced sound system. Five speakers with discreet amplification can produce the powerful sound that you expect from a grand piano. The advanced circuitry ensures the fidelity of this sound is top-class and fully immerses you in gorgeous piano tones.

Built for a digital world

This will not only impress you by how it looks, feels, and sounds - it has a wealth of other functions that only digital pianos like the GP-6 can provide. You can alter the nuances of the sound with the Piano Designer tools, change the temperament and tuning, adjust the resonances of the cabinet, and alter how sensitive the key action is. These are just a few of the settings you can fine-tune your instrument with.

You can use the in-built Bluetooth functionality to stream music from your phone to your GP-6’s speakers to play along with or simply enjoy music through a great sound system. Bluetooth MIDI allows you to take advantage of the weighted keyboard to control MIDI instruments on your computer. USB ports also let you connect flash drives or directly connect to a computer for MIDI functions too.

The Roland Piano App is the perfect companion to your GP-6. Alter settings or select sounds remotely from your phone for quick and easy switching. You can browse the piano’s onboard library of songs or access more on the Roland cloud. Digital scores can even be bought up on your phone or tablet to play along with. More learning resources are available such as lessons, flash card games and rhythm exercises.
