Not only does this give you the same surrounding resonance of a concert grand, but also provides aliquot resonance in the upper octaves. This is a feature you won't find in many digital pianos. Aliquot is a stringing method that uses extra, un-stuck strings in the higher octaves to enrich the tone. These extra strings do this when they vibrate in sympathy with your other strings, adding complex colour to your sound.

Not only do you get an authentic sound, you will also be able to learn the proper acoustic technique with your new P-S500 digital piano. You don't have to worry about any nasty surprises when you sit down at an acoustic piano in your lessons or a new venue. Rather, with Yamaha's renowned Graded Hammer Standard (GHS) 88 key piano keyboard, your teacher will be pleased with the proper technique you develop. That's because a GHS keyboard is fully weighted, giving you resistance just like an acoustic. This extends to the detail of being heavier on the bass notes and lighter in the higher keys.

Lighting the way

The P-S500 makes learning easier with the addition of Stream Lights. Small lights above the keys flash gently in the sequence of notes needed to play a piece, offering a more adaptable and versatile learning experience for inexperienced players. When you don't want to use these, you can turn the function off to allow complete focus. It takes the pressure off reading scores and provides an extra layer of support.
