The PE 1C is a highly versatile passive equalizer featuring all-tube circuitry. The PE 1C utilises two tube diodes in its pristine audio circuit, providing classic tube warmth that is so sought-after. The unit also includes a high-end operational amplifier designed to provide the best possible audio performance. It features controls for the low frequency and high frequency bands, providing hands-on control for sound design. The valve based amplifier helps to restore the loss from the filtering, resulting in a unique and rich sound.
Basing its design on highly renowned classic EQs helps to bring out the best from the high-end audio circuits. The EQ takes some design aspects from tried and tested EQs from the late 80s, helping to deliver the same iconic sound that helped to the shape the sound of that era’s music. These classic EQs became highly popular in the late 80s, providing a smooth yet rich sound.
In keeping with the vintage-style design, the equalizer features a low-end section and a high frequency section with midrange bands. The shelving/peaking configuration acts similar to classic EQs. The low end section features two separate passive EQ filters, each with their own varied cut/boost frequencies. When the two filter are combined, it provides versatile and unique EQ curves, which can be used for cleaning up the low-end/mid-range bands. The high frequency and mid-range bands provide unparalleled transparency, resulting in incredible clarity. This makes the PE 1C one of the most revered program equalizers on the market.
The Tube Tec PE 1C's design is inspired by vintage EQ units. It includes conductive plastic potentiometers and built-in overload protection in the form of a red LED light. It even features a gold-plated switch for added retro style. The input and output transformer is balanced and fully floating, and feature a static screen between the two wirings for optimised audio performance. The creative possibilities are endless thanks to the versatile design, making it ideal for everything from vocal recordings to treatment of drums, guitars and even strings.
