Take it back to the '70s
This 4-band stereo parametric equaliser is a versatile analog unit delivering classic warmth and grit. The ergonomic layout is reminiscent of gear from the mid '70s, from the colour scheme to the indented and highly accurate potentiometers. The '70s were a definitive time, bringing forth new styles, genres and sonic changes.
The versatile design features precision potentiometers, providing exceptional accuracy for fast and simple recall. This makes it easier than ever to create your own presets. It also features a switchable slope plus low peak settings, allowing you to adjust the focus to the bottom end.
True parametric design with variable bandwidth
Parametric EQs are revered for their precision and ability to select certain frequencies to boost or cut. The 1974 offers a truly parametric design, allowing you to adjust each of the four variable frequency controls. It also gives you the option of cutting or boosting frequencies by +/-12dB. The variable frequency controls allow you to get in-depth with your sound. The onboard filtering provides a natural sound you can use to sculpt tones and fine-tune mixes with ease. From finding problematic frequencies to de-essing and boosting tones, the 1974 can do it all.
Switchable slope setting
Unlike most conventional outboard EQs, the 1974 features an adjustable slope on both the high and low band filter. The customised slopes have been specially picked for their musicality, providing the means to adjust the sound at the bottom of top ends for a more natural sound. The bottom ends of the slopes provide you with 6,9 and 12dB per octave settings.
Also included is a unique Peak setting that delivers a narrow bell shape to the 12dB per octave low-band filter at the knee frequency before it is rolled off. This can be a highly useful tools for kick drums and other sounds that need extra weight to their sound. The high-end features both 6 and 12dB per octave settings making it one of the most versatile outboard EQs on the market.
Variable low and high cut filters
The 1974 also provides fully variable high and low cut filters, which allow the user to remove undesirable signals. The low cut (high pass filter) ranges from 10Hz-225Hz and the high cut (low pass Filter) 4kHz-32kHz. This makes the 1974 ideal for a range of applications where the desired cut varies between sources. Tidy up the bass rumble, remove hiss and more with the 1974 EQ.
True stereo operation
The linked stereo operation ensures it’s easy to make quick adjustments to both channels of the 1974. No longer spend time trying to line up two separate channels to apply matching EQ to left and right channels, this ensures both channels are equally treated by the EQ. This is guaranteed by the use of precision potentiometers, each one being matched for left/right accuracy, so that both channels operate identically.
