Combining elements from the design of the PLX turntables and the DJM-S series mixer; the REV1 is in a league of its own bridging the gap between analog turntablism and the innovation of digital controllers. Master of innovation, Pioneer have created this affordable battle-style DJ controller for use with Serato DJ Lite (can also be used with other DJ software). The new scratch-style design is perfect for honing your scratching skills as well as providing an ergonomic design for mixing. The DDJ-REV1 is designed to replicate the setup of the DJM-S mixer and the PLX turntables but with digital users in mind.
The ‘battle-style’ design refers to the unique layout that is normally reserved for analog turntables and mixers. The specialised design aids in scratching, allowing you to move the jog wheels with precision. The unique arrangement coupled with the cutting-edge design makes this one of the most comprehensive, affordable DJ controllers on the market.
At the heart of the controller are the newly designed jog wheels which are larger than the popular DDJ-SR2’s. The larger design allows you to scratch with the utmost accuracy. It comes jam-packed with performances features including pads, built-in FX and 60mm tempo sliders. You can use the onboard performance pads to combine different effects, trigger your own samples or scratch your tracks.
Take your mixes to the next level with Lever FX. Lever FX provides a satisfying way to trigger and interact with various effects. You can push the lever down and hold it in place to apply effects in short bursts, alternatively, you can ‘lock’ effects to play continuously by pushing the lever up, freeing your hands for scratching or browsing through music.
Need a helping hand with your scratching? Tracking Scratch is a new feature for the DDJ series which will return the music back to your chosen cue point, once you have removed your hand from the jog wheel. This eliminates the tedious process of having to find your chosen cue point again. To activate the Tracking Scratch Pad mode, simply press a performance pad, select the Scratch Crossfader Cuts pattern you desire and start moving the jog wheel
Whether you’re livestreaming alongside an MC or hosting your own set, the inclusion of mixed microphone audio makes live-streaming an absolute breeze. For the first time at this price range, Pioneer allows you to blend the master audio output with the sound of a microphone. This eliminates the need for external soundcards/mixers – great for DJs on the go. You can stream directly from within Serato DJ Lite, providing a fully-fledged live streaming experience for your fans.
Once you have downloaded Serato DJ Lite, you can simply plug the DDJ-REV1 into your computer and you’re ready to go. With no need for additional drivers, you’re provided with tactile control over every parameter from the buttons, knobs and faders to the large jog wheels. You can even import your own scratch samples via Scratch Bank pad mode. Simply tap the dedicated Scratch Bank button and you can quick-assign the sound to your selected pad. Not only that, but you can also mix with up to four songs, with deck 3/4 control available from within Serato DJ Lite.
