Roland understand the dangers that latency can introduce. Especially in high-pressure situations such as live performances. That's why the WM-1 features proprietary wireless technology. With this on-board and connected to your WM-1D, performances will feel natural thanks to the adaptors' ultra-responsive nature. The first couple of times you use it you'll be forgiven for continually checking you're not plugged in with a standard MIDI cable. Standard mode will be useful for most applications. However, if you're performing intricate parts with complex timings, then you'll benefit from Fast mode. This guarantees a quicker transfer speed of 3ms.
The WM-1D is essential if you're working on a Windows operating system. You'll find that set-up is as easy as plugging the dongle into a free USB slot and the WM-1 (not supplied) into your instrument or hardware. Although the dongle is not essential for Mac operating systems, as it is able to communicate using standard Bluetooth MIDI. It is recommended if you want to feel the benefits of using fast mode.
