More than your normal spring
Somewhat lacking in features, traditional spring reverbs will only ever provide you with the 'level' or 'amount' control, letting you control how much of the reverb tank signal is fed back into your audio. With Rev SPRING-636, Arturia has taken advantage of all the digital realm has to offer, providing you with not only a plethora of control to shape the tone and character of your reverb but also the reverb tank itself.
Explore eight different spring reverb algorithms, all modelled with Arturia's celebrated TAE and Phi analog modelling technologies. Ranging from studio classics, guitar amp tanks and ultra-rare vintage units, SPRING-636 offers a myriad of flavours to fit any style, genre or instrument. Each of the eight onboard modes can be enhanced and tamed with the range of onboard controls. A germanium input preamp has been modelled to provide a musical crunch to your sound when driven to the full. Unlike digital distortion, this Input can be driven into musical overloading, warming up your sound and providing extra robust distortion character to your sound.
Adjustable Decay and Wdith controls help you shape the response of your spring tank, letting you morph between tight and mono to wide, expansive stereo with ease. Opening the Advanced panel will give you access to Arturia's clever additions which offer an even greater range of tonal shaping for your reverb. Pre-delay and Filtering are ideal for creating space between dry and wet signals and for removing clutter from the low end in your signal respectively, whilst the three-band post-EQ lets you refine your reverb tone for your mix. All of this can be blended between wet and dry using the Mix control, making it suitable for both insert or send effects.
Add some space to your sound
Adept at enhancing both the space and character of your tone, Rev SPRING-636 can be used to subtly add depth to an electric guitar tone being utilised as a tone shaper or when cranked to 11, can provide vibrant verbs to put your sound in a unique space. Boasting full control over all the necessary parameters, Rev SPRING-636 lets you adjust the spring length, its width and the dry-wet signal on the fly with no artefacts. The depth of control paired with the input drive and eight unique spring tank types offer a wide variety of sounds to fit any instrument in your mix.
Pushing the input drive, you can engage the germanium preamp and add some fuzzy distortion-like quality to your electric guitar sound, perfect for less polished rock or indie guitar tones to spice up your rhythm and lead playing. Max the decay time and push the stereo Width control to its widest, and Rev SPRING-636 becomes the perfect tool for sound designers to add space and depth to synthesizer pads or vocal layers.
The Dub classic
Originally designed to add space to the sound of Hammond Organs in the '30s, a spring reverb tank is an extremely simple design which has stood the test of time. Made with a suspended spring inside of a reverb tank, the sound of your instrument passes through the spring and is picked back up into the original sound, creating the signature sound of spring reverbs.
This design means that every spring in every reverb tank will have a different sound. Varying from metallic and bright, to the zingy and punchy to the 'boing' of a dull spring, the unique tonal character of every spring has its purpose. At the core of SPRING-636 is the legendary Grampian 636 spring reverb, a favourite of legendary dub producer Lee Scratch Perry and also punk rock guitarist Pete Townshend of The Who proves its versatility. Encompassing multiple different spring tank models inside SPRING-636, you can traverse the range of different spring tones to find something that best suits your music.
Powered by technology
Captured with proprietary modelling algorithms, Rev SPRING-636 can recreate the iconic effect with unrivalled realism and immersion. Using the TAE modelling technology, each component part is meticulously analysed, presenting the characteristics and behaviour of the hardware in indistinguishable quality. State-of-the-art Phi modelling encompasses the physical and acoustic properties of the hardware for hyper-realism. The result is a next-level plug-in to add to your productions which responds and reacts exactly like the hardware.
