Long since have producers been looking to capture the sound of vintage and classic albums that emerged during the surge in underground electronic music. The character of the albums is attested to the predominant use of early hardware sampling units that featured unique encoding techniques with lower sample rates and bit depths. This allowed the sounds played through the samplers to have a gritty and fat sound that perfectly complemented the music style and fit in the mix perfectly. Decimort perfectly encapsulates this tone and style of sound, adding in colouration and grit to put the magic in your loops, basslines and vocals.
While it may appear counterintuitive to intentionally add effects that lower the sample rate and bit depth of your tracks, Decimort has been expertly designed and engineered to allow you to achieve the sound and character of vintage lofi sampling units while also retaining your signal integrity and fidelity. As it functions, Decimort is a premium quality bit-crusher with advanced signal processing algorithms to simulate the complex behaviour of sampling paths that exist in AD/DA conversion.
Designed to introduce zero internal aliasing, the only aliasing is introduced is the emulated aliasing from the sampling rate reduction. This means that your signal won't suffer from degradation or artefacts that can hinder your audio performance.
Implemented in stunning quality, Decimort 2 features a wide range of controls that far exceed what is normally presented in a bit crusher plug-in. Going above and beyond the norm, you are presented with the expected 'bit-resolution' and 'sampling frequency' controls as well as everything from anti-aliasing filters and adjustable jitter.
The two anti-aliasing filters include a steep low-pass filter that allows you to remove any harmonic content that may sound harsh and brittle on your audio track, letting you clean up your sound flawlessly. The second filter is a post-filter, aptly named Image Filter) that is synchronised with the resampling engine, giving you control of the number of aliasing images that appear above the resampling frequency when added into your signal.
