The Radial Workhorse JDV-Pre is a studio-quality instrument preamplifier module that is compatible with 500 series racks. Featuring a completely discrete class-A design, the JDV-Pre retains the natural tonality and unique character of your instrument. The integrated high-pass filter allows you to reduce the low bass tones, removing unwanted body resonance and ensuring your instrument can be clearly heard in the mix. A built-in Drag control enables you to adjust the input impedance from 3.9 meg-ohms to a variable load from 22k ohms to 500k ohms - suitable for both piezo pickups and magnetic pickups alike. One versatile preamp. Aside from the standard preamp setup where the Radial Workhorse JDV-Pre 500 Series Instrument Preamp is positioned between the instrument and interface, this multifaceted preamp can also be used in others ways:
Using piezo pickups
Acoustic instruments often use a piezo pickup attached to the bridge. Handily, the JDV-Pre comes pre-equipped with a variable input impedance that can be adjusted to the ultra-high 4meg Ohms mode that unlocks the full tonal spectrum from the piezo, giving you incredible audio fidelity when recording acoustic instruments.Using a microphone
When connecting a condenser microphone, the JDV-Pre's rear XLR functions as a mic-preamp adding to the functionality of this unit. The balanced output then connects to your PA or interface as normal but this feature adds a real versatility to the JDV-Pre making it a solid choice for all your preamp needs.
