Ultra-Compact Pico Series
Erica Synths have successfully managed to create a high-performance series of modules in an ultra-compact and affordable format. At only 3HP in width, the Pico Trigger provides the same sound quality and versatility that you would typically need a collection of rather expensive modules to generate. Designed for Eurorack modular systems, the Erica Synths Pico module series is a huge leap in compact, powerful, and innovative modular synthesis.
Web-Based Pattern Design Interface
The web-based design interface for the Erica Synths Pico Trigger can be accessed here. This is the interface used to create patterns for your Pico Trigger, and then save and upload them to your module via the CLK jack on the module's faceplate.
CTRL Encoder
The Pico Trigger is equipped with a main control for accessing the key features and modes of the module. Labelled CTRL, this encoder can be found at the top of the module's faceplate. The CTRL encoder will display different colours dependent on the selected mode:
- If the encoder is blinking green, it indicates the module is in Pattern Play Mode, and the encoder can be used to set the internal clock rate
- If the encoder is light yellow, the encoder can be used to set the shuffle amount. The brighter the encoder appears, the more shuffle is applied
The CTRL encoder also plays a part in uploading patterns from the web-based pattern design interface. Simply set the IN/OUT switch to the IN setting (connecting when the switch is set to OUT could cause damage to your device's audio-out port, so make sure it is definitely set to IN before connecting), and proceed to push and hold the encoder for 2 seconds. The encoder will blink red. Now you can connect a laptop/computer/tablet/mobile device, with the pattern designer interface open, to the CLK jack and upload your pattern to the selected memory slot. It will take roughly a second for the upload to complete, and the encoder will blink green once. Now you can proceed to upload your next pattern until you have filled the memory slots. To exit the upload mode, simply push the encoder, and it will change back into Pattern Play Mode.
LOAD Button For On-The-Fly Trigger Pattern Loading
The Erica Synths Pico Trigger features a LOAD button just below the CTRL encoder. This can be used to load trigger patterns from the module's internal memory, even during your performances. Once the button is pressed, the trigger out (T1, T2, T3, T4) LEDs will stop blinking (but the module will continue to send trigger signals) and will indicate pattern selections. Rotating the encoder enables you to select a pattern from the ones saved to the Pico Trigger's memory slots, with the LEDs corresponding to the available patterns from 0 to 7 (T1 - T4 means patterns 0 to 3, and blinking T1 to T4 means patterns 4 to 7). Push the encoder to select your desired pattern.
Controls & I/Os
- CTRL: Encoder that allows you to access the main features of the module. Pushing the encoder enables you to move through the different modes
- IN/OUT Switch: Selects which clock source you want to use. OUT means the module will generate an internal clock signal and outputs it via the CLK jack. IN means you can patch in an external clock signal via the CLK jack. As soon as the first clock signal appears, the module will start to play its sequence
- LOAD Button: Allows you to load trigger patterns from internal memory on the fly
- CLK Jack: Input jack that can be patched with an external clock input, or sends its internal clock out to other modules. Also used for uploading patters from the web-based pattern design interface
- T1, T2, T3, T4 Outputs: These are patchable trigger outputs
