Key Features
The Focal Sub One is a studio subwoofer, comprised of two eight-inch Slatefibre cones to produce transparent and natural low-end. The ultimate companion for the mixing engineer, the Sub One employs a custom-designed Class-D amplifier that can produce 200W RMS of clean and consistent power. Combined with the French hand-made Slatefibre cones, Sub One covers a wide frequency range from 32Hz to 120Hz. The Slatefibre speaker boasts an exclusive design that offers greater rigidity than traditional materials, ensuring that even at highly-driven volumes, the Sub One will offer fantastic dynamics whilst not suffering from any unwanted distortion in the signal.
Its sleek and compact design with front-mounted bass ports ensures that even for smaller studios, you will be able to position your Sub One in the optimum location. Even if placed against a wall, the front-mounted bass ports ensure there will be no hindrance to the performance of your subwoofer.
Ideal for mixing engineers and producers, the Sub One features a wealth of connectivity options as well as customisable crossovers for seamless integration with any speaker system you may have in your studio.

Evolving from one of the world's best-selling studio monitors, the Focal Sub One employs 40 years of hand-made French components and know-how into one of the most neutral and accurate subwoofers available. Featuring two eight-inch cones constructed from the exclusive Slatefibre material, specifically developed for Focal, the Sub One can reach the depths of 32Hz with maximum clarity for an unrivalled low-end monitoring experience. Reproduction of microsonic differences is made easy thanks to the pairing of the Slatefibre drivers and a custom-designed class-D amplifier. Chosen for its pristine and consistent output, the Sub One delivers 200W of total RMS power. No matter how hard you need to drive your subwoofer, the Sub One won't suffer from distracting distortion and instead, you will enjoy a smooth and transparent low-end to mix your music more accurately.
Boasting a wide range of user controls, the Sub One lets you customise your listening experience to suit your needs. An adjustable high-pass crossover can be set to either 60 or 90Hz to tailor the low-end response of your subwoofer to the music you are mixing. This is ideal for use between different genres that require a different amount of extremely low sub in the track. Electronic music producers may want to make use of the extra low-end monitoring to ensure their track has enough energy to shake the roof of the dance floor down. Classical composers and mixing engineers may take this up to 90Hz to ensure a balanced and neutral sound that complements the mix of the song.
Additionally, an adjustable low-pass crossover frequency adjustment is available to determine at what frequency range your main monitors cut off the low-end before filtering into the subwoofer. Not every studio monitor performs the same, therefore with this control, you can tailor the crossover to your particular studio monitor set, ensuring you have the most transparent and natural-sounding crossover between monitors and subwoofer.
The Focal Sub One features a slew of switch controls including mono summing to monitor how your track will sound on conventional portable speaker solutions such as mobile phones as well as a phase and polarity switch. No matter how you need to set up your monitoring solution, the Focal Sub One will be able to accommodate.
Employing a number of different inputs and outputs including TRS and balanced XLR, along with dedicated LFE (low-frequency effect) connectivity, the Sub One can be integrated into virtually any loudspeaker system in your studio. The compact and neutral design ensures that you're not limited to the locale by the size and design of the subwoofer. Front-mounted bass ports mean that will even be able to place the Sub One closer to your wall without affecting the performance of your sub. This is particularly important for smaller studios where space is at a premium, offering the opportunity to make use of a high-quality subwoofer without suffering from an excess low-end build-up as a result of it being placed near reflective surfaces.
Crucially, the Sub One is constructed from reinforced MDF with internal bracing. The reinforcement and bracing serve to minimise the impact of internal resonance that can create a distorted effect in your low-end. The addition of this internal bracing ensures that no matter what volume you need to crank your music, you'll enjoy a clean and transparent sound, ideal for mixing your music.
