Three-Way Nearfield Studio Monitor

The Focal Twin 6 BE is a high-end nearfield studio monitor with a three-way design. The three-way design incorporates three separate amplifiers for each of the frequency bands. The unit is comprised of a dual ‘W’ 6.5-inch low-mid cones and an inverted pure Beryllium dome. The two 6.5-inch cones helps to deliver the low and mid frequency range with the Beryllium dome focusing on the treble. The ‘W’ Cone is a specially-designed composite sandwich cone, resulting in optimised frequency response and a neutral balance between frequency bands. The Beryllium inverted dome tweeter is a trademark of Focal studio monitors, capable of covering 5 full octaves ranging from 1 kHz – 40 kHz. The tweeter is designed to reproduce high frequencies with unmatched speed and precision.

Optimal Transparency & Precision

The combination of the W cone and the Beryllium inverted dome tweeter results in exceptional audio transparency and precision. The stereo image precision is unmatched, and the neutral sound staging resulting in excellent articulate of the bass and mid-bass range. It boasts a high SPL, whilst retaining a stable tonal balance of your source audio. The extended frequency response (40Hz – 40kHz) captures every nuance from your audio, making it ideal for mixing and mastering purposes; as well as recording applications.

Custom Amplification Stage

One of the most unique design aspects is the custom-designed amplification stage. Focals’ engineers have used specialised BASH technology to create the bass/medium amplification circuit. It fuses the best of class AB style circuits, resulting in a class-D type yield, housing the 150W RMS circuit in the compact space. The Pure class AB circuitry provides all the power the HF tweeter needs, resulting in a wider bandwidth and exceptional accuracy.

Design & Connectivity

The rear of the studio monitor features a range of controls including LF and HF contour parameters. You can also switch the Input voltage from -10dbV to +4dBu. The studio monitor can be installed both vertically and horizontally for added flexibility. The rear panel features a switch for setting whether the speaker is Left or Right. It also includes an XLR connection for use with audio interfaces and more. The studio monitor provides integral shielding through cancellation magnets for added protection from outside sources. The enclosure is constructed from MDF panels with a dark red side panels and block body.
