Key Features
The Genelec 8350A SAM Studio Monitor is built for professional engineers working in music production, broadcasting, post, or any environment that demands accurate monitoring. It combines high output, wide bandwidth, and room-adapting intelligence into a single active monitor.
Product Ref: 71894
The 8350A is designed to deliver precision monitoring across a broad frequency range. It offers a maximum SPL of 112dB, with a response from 33Hz to 22kHz. Frequency accuracy remains within ±1dB between 38Hz and 20kHz. This performance is achieved through an 8-inch woofer and 1-inch metal dome tweeter, powered by built-in Class D amplifiers. The woofer receives 200 watts and the tweeter 150 watts, delivering clean output even at high volumes.
The Minimum Diffraction Enclosure reduces unwanted reflections and helps maintain neutral playback. The reflex port is flow-optimised to support low-frequency response without introducing noise. These features make the 8350A suitable for nearfield use in detailed mixing and editing tasks.
The Directivity Control Waveguide shapes how sound radiates from the drivers. It ensures both on-axis and off-axis responses stay balanced, creating a wider listening area. This wider sweet spot allows you to move between positions without losing stereo focus or tonal accuracy. It also supports collaboration in shared studio environments, where more than one person may be evaluating the sound.
Combined with the enclosure design, the DCW improves phase coherence and provides accurate imaging. This supports better decision-making during mixing, mastering, and content editing, particularly for tasks requiring focus on placement and space.
The 8350A is part of Genelec’s Smart Active Monitoring family. When used with the GLM software and AutoCal tool, the monitor analyses your room’s acoustics and applies corrective EQ to match the space. Calibration adjusts the level, timing, and frequency response for each speaker, removing the influence of reflective surfaces or layout issues. This ensures that playback remains neutral and consistent, even in less-than-ideal conditions.
You can save and switch between multiple setups using GLM, making it easy to change configurations for stereo, surround, or immersive formats. This makes the 8350A a reliable choice for modern studios that work across multiple delivery formats.
The Iso-Pod stand decouples the monitor from its surface and allows you to angle it towards your listening position. This improves clarity and makes it easier to adapt the monitor to different room setups. Intelligent Signal Sensing puts the speaker into standby when not in use, reducing power consumption. As soon as a signal returns, the monitor powers back up automatically.
Connections include an analog XLR input, a digital AES/EBU input and output, and two RJ45 ports for network control through GLM. The monitor also includes protection circuits to prevent damage from unexpected peaks or electrical issues. These features support consistent performance across long sessions and changing environments.
The 8350A is compact but powerful. Measuring 452mm in height with the Iso-Pod stand and weighing just under 13kg, it fits easily into control rooms, editing suites or portable rigs. With digital and analog compatibility, strong output, and automated calibration, it adapts quickly to each new task. Whether used as a single nearfield monitor or as part of a larger system, it provides accurate, repeatable monitoring with minimal setup time.
Any electrical items in your order may have been designed to work with a 240V circuit, using a United Kingdom G type plug connection or a 220V circuit, using an EU plug connection. An adapter or transformer may be required for these items to work properly and safely in your country. Some items work with a range of voltages, or have a switchable voltage control built in.
