Bridging the gap between analog and digital, the Korg Drumlogue provides the power and grit of analog circuitry with the versatile nature of digital voices. Comprised of four analog drum voices, seven digital parts and 6 sampled-based parts (as well as a synthesis-based multi-engine), the Drumlogue is one of the most powerful drum machines on the market. The four analog voices are comprised of a kick, snare, hi-tom and lo-tom that can be customised and shaped to suit your own style. The internal analog circuitry has been specially designed by the mind that brought you classic synths such as the ARP 26000 M, MS-20 mini, the ARP Odyssey and many more. The intuitive controls feature dedicated controls for the bass drum, snare drum, toms, hi-hats and sample channels (1/2). It also comes pre-loaded with 64 varying drum kits, allowing you to get started straight out of the box – no matter your musical style.
Mix and blend between the analog and digital sections to achieve truly unique sonic results. The seven digital parts provide advanced tonal flexibility, allowing you to sculpt and shape your sound with the utmost precision. The six sampled-based parts can play any of the PCM banks within the Drumlogue, or you can import your own custom samples to its onboard memory. Importing your samples is made easy, simply connect the drum machine to your computer (via USB) and drag/drop them onto the system’s memory bank.
One of the most unique and exciting features of the Drumlogue is the synthesis-based Multi Engine. The Multi Engine was first developed for the Prologue and Minilogue XD and is renowned for its powerful tonal palette. Accompanying the VPM (Variable Phase Modulation) and noise generator engines, the multi-engine features a ‘User Custom’ slot which allows you to import custom synth plugins for advanced sound generation. Unlike conventional drum machine, the Drumlogue doesn’t use static waveforms for its synth voices – allowing you to get in-depth with your sound design.
The Korg Drumlogue comes pre-loaded with an exclusive synth plugin named ‘Nano’ that was designed in collaboration with Sinevibes. This plugin showcases the true power of the Drumlogue, allowing you to explore the sonic power of the Multi Engine. Nano is a virtual analog synthesizer equipped with dual oscillators (with optional ring modulation), a four-pole state variable filter (with soft clipping distortion), built-in EG and built-in multi-waveform LFO. The wide variety of customisable parameters allows you to create everything from ethereal pads to aggressive leads and even cinematic-style effects.
At the heart of the Drumlogue is a powerful 64-step sequencer that can be used to create patterns, loops and complex sequences. The sequencer allows you to tap into polyrhythms and other advanced percussive styles thanks to its innovative design. You can also add humanisation to your sequences with the inclusion of per-step probability, per-step alternate trigger patterns, per-track groove patterns and much more.
You can create ever-evolving sequences using the ‘Chain’ mode and make sequencing changes on the fly. ‘Loop’ mode provides you with a range of variations to choose from when playing your sequence for new and unique results. You can also add some swing and variations to individual drum sounds using the Motion and Accent recording features, or switch things up with the randomisation option.
A variety of onboard studio-grade effects allow you to take your sound design capabilities a step further. You can use multiple effects simultaneously, allowing you to create a virtual effect chain to add depth and texture to your sequences/sounds. Drumlogue comes with Delay, Reverb and Master effects pre-installed, but you can also import third-party delay/reverb/master effects for added flexibility.
You can load up to 24 custom effects units, each with 24 custom parameters that can be accessed via the encoders/OLED display. You can independently set the delay/reverb effects for each part with multiple return points at your disposal. The Drumlogue also features an audio input that can be used to process other instruments using your custom effect chain – making it perfect for any studio/live setup.
Designed with musicians in mind, the Drumlogue features a slanted top panel for optimised positioning, ensuring you get the most comfortable feel when playing/sequencing. The robust enclosure is constructed from aluminium with a hard-wearing, brushed hairline finish with stylish wooden side panels. Accessing parameters and settings is made easy thanks to the crisp OLED display and dedicated encoder knobs.
It also features a myriad of connection points including four individual audio outputs, a headphone output and L/Mono/R outputs. You can also sync with your other gear using the MIDI I/O connectivity and Sync In/Out. It even features USB connectivity for use with your favorite DAW or computer-based software.
